Won a breach of contract jury verdict against one of Colorado’s largest pipeline companies. The verdict was the third largest in Colorado in 2017.
Bay v. Anadarko
Won a unanimous reversal of an erroneous federal district court decision before the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals in a surface trespass case.
Burch v. Blue Sky dairy
Won a preliminary injunction to prevent flooding on a farm due to improper construction of an oil road.
Estate of Clemontine Randall
Won a determination of heirship decree to confirm the owners of mineral interests entitled to royalty payments.
ADM blt minerals v. Concord development; Hogeland v. imperial securities
Won quiet title actions confirming ownership of valuable mineral rights.
tallgrass pipeline Condemnation
Represented 20 landowners to ensure they were appropriately compensated for a natural pipeline constructed through their property. The cases were settled under confidential terms.
COGCC 500-Series and Mission change Rulemakings
In the 500-Series Rulemaking, he represented mineral owners to impact the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission rule changes related to involuntary pooling. The Commission recognized the importance of three issues Steven raised and initiated a special stakeholder process specific to those issues. This matter received media attention in the State, and Steven was quoted in relation to the rulemaking. Steven represented numerous stakeholders in the Mission Change Rulemaking, which re-wrote Colorado’s oil and gas regulations and garnered national attention.
